Sometimes people can feel sore after a massage and I’ve had a few clients have this response, although it always occurs within the first 24hrs and then releases, which leaves them feeling great. Such a reaction is sometimes called a ‘healing response’ – it’s nothing to be alarmed about and this great article (link below) explains why. It also goes some way to explaining why I tend to err on the side of caution when I get a client request “a really deep massage” on their first session, because the body will always react to what is new or different. Finally, it serves as the perfect example of why everyone should have regular massage!
