Although this blog is predominantly dedicated to all things good for you, sometimes it’s really helps to indulge in a little bit of badness….

Yesterday, I was up at the crack of dawn to finish off Kneads Must’s quarterly VAT – a deeply distressing event for someone like myself who has trouble adding in double digits. I worked non-stop on the accounts until 11am, which have become even harder now that we have US sales. Thankfully, our understanding accountant then took the whole tangled mess off my hands to fashion it into something legal enough to satisfy Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs.

By that time I was in need of some serious self-remuneration, so I headed off to a new deli that I discovered recently, where I indulged in a gorgeous sandwich and several cups of gloriously strong coffee.  The shop’s decor is avant-garde meets a 1940s sitting room – all of it really lovely and laid-back.  I went upstairs to the little roof-top garden area and, as it wasn’t quite lunchtime yet, I had the whole place to myself.  I laid out my newspaper and grazed on my brie and cranberry sandwich in the warm sunshine for a good hour and a half.  Yes, it was a calorific indulgence but it was also bliss and I think it did me the world of good.  Sometimes just getting off the treadmill for a bit is the best tonic of all…
